An applicant employed by a company license holder is not eligible for a security officer commission unless the applicant submits as part of the application satisfactory evidence that the applicant has:
(1) Completed the basic training course at a school or under an instructor approved by the department;
(2) Met each qualification established by this chapter and administrative rule;
(3) Achieved the score required by the department on the examination under Section [1702.1685](https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/GetStatute.aspx?Code=OC&Value=1702.1685);
(4) Demonstrated to the satisfaction of the firearm training instructor that the applicant has complied with other department standards for minimum marksmanship competency with a handgun; and
(5) Provided proof of completion by and the results of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory test for the applicant.

Sec. 1702.331. PERSONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEMS. (a) In this section, "personal emergency response system" means an alarm system that is:

Each company representative must meet the eligibility requirements of Occ. Code Section [1702.113](https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/OC/htm/OC.1702.htm#1702.113 "1702.113"), meet all qualification and experience requirements listed below, and pass a written examination administered by the department. **If a company representative lacks the experience to qualify in each category of service included in a license or application, the license holder must designate an additional company representative who is responsible for each service for which the primary company representative is not qualified.** All company representatives must pass the examination.
Guard Company:
- At least three (3) years accumulated employment experience in the field in which the applicant's prospective employer is licensed; and
- At least one (1) year of experience in a managerial or supervisory position

Owners can automatically perform unarmed duties; will need to get a regular license to perform armed ones.

Security Officer and Personal Protection Officer applicants are required to submit training certificates as part of the application.
- Non-Commission Security Officer applicants must submit a Level II Training certificate.
- Commission Security Officer applicants must submit Level II and Level III Training certificates in addition to the [Declaration of Psychological and Emotional Health](https://www.dps.texas.gov/InternetForms/Forms/PSP-13.pdf).
- Personal Protection Officer applicants must submit Level II, Level III, and Level IV Training certificates in addition to the [Declaration of Psychological and Emotional Health](https://www.dps.texas.gov/InternetForms/Forms/PSP-13.pdf).
All other licenses do not require training as a prerequisite to licensure.
