But it shrinks our influence in the competition of nations.

But at the rate they are increasing, they could in a couple generations.

But the country produced most when we were at war.

No it isn't, and it is still shrinking now.

"Most people don't contribute that much, so the collective isn't as important as a few key individuals"

But everyone can be used, even as a janitor. Nations are bodies as well as brains.

Competition is supposed to happen as collective.
|
|

But maybe we've evolved.

Isn't shaping people a greater goal than shaping a system?
